Devan is available to teach musical theatre, tap, jazz, young dancer, and audition prep workshops. She is also able to set routines for competition and recitals. Please reach out through the contact page if interested!
Devan has always had a passion for teaching. From the young age of ten she was a teaching assistant at her home studio in Buffalo NY. From there she continued to share her passion with the next generation teaching tap, hip hop, and musical theatre while in college. After graduating Devan continued to teach but expanded the age of her students to include adults of all levels. Devan has guest taught at many studios around the Greater New York area. She was invited to teach at Dance Days of Buffalo, an event catered to dancers of all levels ages 16 and up, where she taught musical theatre, tap, and subbed into a back to basics ballet.
Devan found her true love of teaching while working as a teaching assistant in the young dancer program at The School at Steps. By teaching side by side with some of the best young dancer teachers Devan learned how to best focus on development with ages 3-5. She was also soon in-trusted to teach her own classes as a faculty member at The School at Steps In NYC, as well as sub into other classes for the school. Devan also continued to assist under Martha Chapman, Matt Williams, and Mary Carpenter to learn as much as she could while working with the best of the best NYC has to offer.
Devan's focus in class for any age is to bring the joy of dance into her students lives, while instilling technique and proper class etiquette. As her 5 year olds will tell you "ballet barres are for ballet dancers, not for monkeys." If she can pass along her love of the arts Devan feels as though she has done her job.
"You Will Be Found"
It's so easy to feel alone in a giant city like New York, but the dance studio always feels like home to many of us.
